Being Black In America Can Get You Killed. George Floyd’s death may unite a broken country
A team of three culturally diverse artists with unique backgrounds spanning multiple continents use their eye for creativity to capture the essence of what it’s like to be black in America, Europe and Africa.
Together, the gifted trio of Emmanuel Apraku, Kwadjo Bediako and Richard Darkey form Ray Styles Studios and operate under the name of Penciled Celebrities. The group received international recognition for their life-like illustrations of celebrities such as President Obama, Oprah, Dwyane Wade and most recently George Floyd.
“We pride ourselves in being purveyors of creative and inspiring artistic designs that exude novel customer experiences with dexterity. We believe our creativity garners an overall perspective about life.
A picture they say is worth a thousand words. What we try to do with every creative is to let the work speak for itself without a caption.” Said Ray
When They See Us: This true storied TV series exposed the New York Police Department and the judicial system of ironically, the “Land Of The Free.” The judicial system is meant to give voice to the voiceless. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the Central Park Five. The system SHUT THEM UP and denied them justice.
George Floyd & Firing Squad With American Bullets: Here, the inspiration behind both creative was to capture through art what we already know: Systemic racism, racial bias, racial profiling, and the struggle of black people in America. The voice of Mr. Floyd calling for his dead mother, was his soul leaving his body to the next world.
Kanye Trump: A marriage between two “controversial” and at the same time “influential” personalities through art.
