Warning Graphic Content: Cop Brutally Assaults And Drags 11-Year-Old Boy

A sheriff’s deputy caught on security video twice body-slamming a child under the age of 12 at a North Carolina middle school was fired on Monday morning and state investigators are deciding whether to file criminal charges against him, officials said. The deputy’s termination is “effective immediately,” Vance County, North Carolina, Sheriff Curtis Brame said.

“We are better than this. This child deserved better than this,” Jackson said, adding an apology to the family and community. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that this never happens again to another child in our school system.”

The young boy did not sustain any serious bodily injuries — any broken bones, broken teeth, fractures, or any concussion that has at this point been diagnosed. Under North Carolina law, the school resource officer will only be charged with a misdemeanor and escape felony charges.

Vance is one of many schools throughout the US that utilizes police officers to patrol school halls. The school plans to revisit its agreement with the sheriff’s office to ensure situations of abuse will never repeat itself.
