A grand ceremony was held on May 18 in Ha Noi to mark the 130th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.
The event drew the attendance of Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man and their predecessors.
Addressing the event, Party General Secretary Trong recalled the glorious life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh who devoted his whole life to the national liberation of the Vietnamese people, contributing to the common struggle of peoples for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress.
The top leader underlined the necessity to continue building the Party and political system clean and strong, improving the leadership capacity of the Party, and building the socialist law-governed State.
We must be determined, persevering and active in preventing and pushing back corruption, degradation in political ideology, ethics and lifestyle of cadres and Party members, the Party chief emphasized.
He also highlighted the need to continue fully grasping the guideline of placing people at the center of the current reform process, thus all policies must reflect aspirations, legitimate rights and interests of our people.
More than 30 years ago, the UNESCO adopted Resolution 24C/18.65, which carries immense significance as the recognition of the world and the United Nations for the noble values of the Vietnamese people and nation, of which President Ho Chi Minh is the most eminent and outstanding embodiment.
The Resolution was also a major source of encouragement and a symbol of the friendship that international friends accorded to President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people in general throughout the struggle for national independence and the joint effort for the noblest common values of the progressive mankind.
To international friends, Uncle Ho is a symbol of the desire for peace and the fight against oppression and injustice. His heart and mind were ever in tune with people all over the world.
President Ho Chi Minh also played a role in the setting of the most pertinent foundation for the philosophy of equality among nations and was a vivid embodiment of such equality.
