“Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments,” Trump said in a series of tweets. “You can’t change history, but you can learn from it.
I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues – and combatting recent Criminal Violence,” the President wrote Friday. “Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!”
The Republican lawmaker pleaded, “For the sake of our nation, as our president, please fix this.”
Trump continues to pander the far right republican base amidst his bismal re-election polling numbers and handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The embattled president has shown propensity to civil or bipartisan leading up to the November 2020 election.
