Trudeau Invokes Emergencies Act

The Freedom Convey has overstayed their welcome and now it’s time to act

As the illegal truck blockage continues to stifle the economy on both sides of the border, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act. The Act will give the Federal Government sweeping new powers to tackle the Freedom Occupiers.

In many parts of the county, protests are going into their third week and the unwillingness of police to enforce multiple laws that have been broken, the Federal Government has decided it is time to step in. The Emergencies Act was created on July 21, 1988, to replace the War Measures Act. Under the Act, the government can enact the following powers;

  • Fine and or imprison from $500 to $5,000, with a prison sentence of 6 months to 5 years.
  • Ability for direct authorization to essential services with the provision of reasonable compensation
  • Ability to prohibit and or regulate public assembly that can lead to a breach of the travel, peace of distruction of property and designates them as secure places
  • Control and operation of public places

With the enforcement of the Emergencies Act, Canadians can feel encouraged the Illegal blockade will soon come to an end. Their absurd request to lift all COVID-19 mandates remains Ludacris and absurd. Every Canadian has the right to lawfully protest, but when those protesters become occupiers, they have lost confirmed their true intent was to disturb the government.
