Following the long-running tradition among American Presidents, former President Barack Obama celebrated the groundbreaking of the Obama Presidential Center on Monday, September 27th.
According to the National Archives and Record Administration (NARA), it is the first fully digitized presidential library. The Obama Foundation and NARA have been working together to digitize the Presidential records to create a digital experience.
After the announcement came from The Obama Foundation on September 24th, the President tweeted: “Chicago will always be an important place to @MichelleObama and me, which is why we’re excited to celebrate the virtual groundbreaking for the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago next week. It’s been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to see this project come to life.”.
The Presidential Center is located in Jackson Park on the South Side of Chicago. It is a privately operated, non-federal organization. Which features a world-class museum, as well as being a public gathering space that welcomes thousands of visitors to learn and connect as a community, create new opportunities, and inspire young people to become the leaders of the next generation.
