The Decay of Political Decorum: A Disgrace To Elector Representation

Despite being leaders of the same country, Premier Danielle Smith refused to shake the Prime Minister’s hand during a meeting, sending a clear message of disrespect and animosity. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and only serves to divide further and weaken the government.

The behaviour of elected officials in the United States has also become a cause for concern, particularly in light of recent events involving Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. During President Biden’s State of the Union address, Greene was caught on camera making unprecedented heckling, howling, and obscene hand gestures. This kind of behaviour is a disgrace to the office of the representative and to the American people as a whole.

As elected officials, it is their responsibility to represent their constituents in a professional and respectful manner. They must work to restore the dignity of the political process and to promote a culture of cooperation and collaboration.
