Suprised Resignation By Newfoundland And Labrador Premier Dwight Ball

“Waking up to hear your Premier has resigned was not the news you expect to hear first thing in the morning,” said a long time Ball supporter. Dwight Ball Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador surprised his province and the country with his abrupt resignation as the provinces thirteenth Premier.

There are more questions than answers as to why Premier Ball called it quits considering his popularity. Ball’s resignation may directly be attributed to the potential doubling of Hydro rates for his province that is already facing a higher than average unemployment. The Premier’s resignation could also stem from the public outcry into his questionable hiring practices.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I thank Premier Ball for his service to Newfoundland and Labrador, and to our country.

“In the years that I have worked with Premier Ball, we made important progress on the issues that matter most to Canadians, including investing in health care, fighting climate change and protecting our environment, and building an economy that works for everyone.

“An active member of his community and former entrepreneur, he worked hard to foster sustainable economic growth for the people in his home province, and across Atlantic Canada. This includes working with the Government of Canada to launch the Atlantic Growth Strategy, renew the Atlantic Accord, and support ongoing efforts on electricity rate mitigation.

“I thank Premier Ball for his many years of public service, and wish him and his family the very best in the future,” said Prime Minister Trudeau

Ball will stay on as acting Premier until April when the Liberal Party holds its convention to choose their new leader.
