Trump failed to disclose secret secret China bank account and those from various countries along with copies of his tax returns
Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senate Banking Committee Ranking Member Sherrod Brown (D-OH) wrote to Alan Garten, the Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of the Trump Organization, demanding answers about President Trump’s Chinese bank account and private business interests in China.
In light of the President’s refusal to release his tax returns and divest from his financial holdings, they write it is imperative that Congress and the American people have a full understanding of any potential financial conflicts of interest that the President has with other nations, especially with China, one of America’s most important economic competitors and strategic adversaries.
Senators Schumer, Wyden and Brown note that, according to press reports, President Trump has maintained a bank account in China since 2013 with an undisclosed financial institution in the country. The President also has previously undisclosed foreign bank accounts in Great Britain and Ireland.
The Senators call for answers no later than November 11, 2020, on how the President’s financial dealings may be influencing U.S. foreign policy and trade negotiations with China, which is a clear and urgent matter of national security.
