The Independent Investigation Unit has opened up an investigation into the shooting
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at approximately 7:30 pm, the Winnipeg Police Service became involved in an officer-involved shooting while conducting a traffic stop at Portage Avenue and Bourkevale Drive.
During the incident, a firearm was discharged by one of the officers striking the adult male driver. Officers immediately provided emergency medical care. The adult male was transported to the hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injury.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation. As of this moment, no further details have been released regarding the incident.
