Philippines Covid-19 cases exceed 13K with 279 new cases. Follow COVID-19 rules or face death
The number of persons infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has reached 13,221, with 279 new reported cases. The Department of Health (DOH), in its case bulletin on Wednesday, reported that there are 89 new recoveries and five new deaths.
The total number of recovered patients nationwide is now 2,932 while the death toll has climbed to 842. Out of the 279 new cases, the DOH said 150 cases or 54 percent came from the National Capital Region; 14 cases or 5 percent from Region 7 (Central Visayas), and the remaining 115 cases or 54 percent from other regions.
The total number of active cases nationwide is 9,447. As of May 19, the DOH has 13,356 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.
About 35.40 percent of the 2,591 ward beds are occupied; 35.70 percent of 9,479 isolation beds are occupied, and 33.70 percent of 1,286 intensive care unit beds are occupied. There are 1,965 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients and about 19.40 percent of them are in use.
In Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) facilities across the country, there are 47,751 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients. Meanwhile, there are 1,348 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients in mega Ligtas Covid facilities.
