Ontario’s Stay-at-Home order only underscores the severity of the provinces COVID-19 cases
As Ontario reaches the fifty per cent vaccination mark, Ontario’s Premier Ford has extended the Stay-at-Home order until June 2. The spread of COVID-19 at one point was the highest in the country, which led to many Ontarians calling for the Premier’s resignation.
Navigating the perils of COVID-19 is extremely difficult since there has never been a global pandemic of this magnitude in recent history. That being said, there have been multiple scenarios and proven procedures that have shown to flatten the curb of the virus, which many feel the Premier has missed or ignored.
“While we are seeing positive trends as a result of the public health measures put in place, we cannot afford to let up yet,” said Premier Ford. “We must stay vigilant to ensure our ICU numbers stay down and our hospital capacity is protected. If we stay the course for the next two weeks and continue vaccinating a record number of Ontarians every day, we can begin looking forward to July and August and having the summer that everyone deserves.”
With the extended stay at home order, the frustration of Ontarians is reaching its boiling point but many of them still need to take responsibility for ignoring pandemic safety rules by the government. While Ontarians are coming to grips with the extended lockdown, neighbouring provinces have already instituted full lockdown procedures and have done a better job conveying its COVID-19 message to their citizens.
