“Obi’s maiden strike strengthens his place as a reliable attacking bayonet for Brito going into the new soccer season. The creative midfielder stays true to his celebrated potential for great things with his new club.”

Obi Patrick Ekpang is off to a blistering start at his new soccer club. In a recent game played at Brito’s Arena Silvar, Obi came on as a super substitute and recorded his first goal for Brito SC, minutes after he went into action for the Portuguese side in a pre-season tournament game against Santiago Mascotelos FC. The Nigerian midfielder substituted Ricardo Almeida, another new signee, in a game that ended 3-1 against his team.

With the score line even at goalless, Obi fetched creatively from his bag of attacking skills and gave bite to Brito’s forward line when he was thrust into the attacking whip within 35 minutes to the end of play.

An adventurous Obi made a bold run into the penalty box from the right flank, overpowered his marker, and swept a pass across the goal line with his weaker left foot amidst an attacking churn. But his team lost the initiative afterward, leaving cracks in its defense and conceding three quick goals.
