Norway has affirmed its support for Ukraine’s modern air defense system by committing to donate F-16 fighter jets. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre revealed the plan, citing its importance and necessity. The donation is a collaborative effort with Denmark and the Netherlands, both of which also intend to provide F-16s to Ukraine.
The Norwegian government had already committed to training Ukrainian fighter pilots and had previously announced the provision of two F-16 jets for training. The specifics of the donation, including the number of jets and delivery timeline, will be disclosed later.
Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram emphasized the partnership with close allies and ongoing dialogues with the US for shaping Ukraine’s air defense strategy. This collective approach is aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s military capabilities and contributing to regional stability.
Norway’s consistent military support for Ukraine aligns with its commitment to peace and stability. The forthcoming F-16 donation is set to significantly reinforce Ukraine’s defense capabilities, promoting its sovereignty and citizens’ safety.
As Norway’s donation takes shape, it underscores diplomatic collaboration and shared security objectives, highlighting the nation’s impartial engagement in global security matters.
