Musk’s Acquisition Of Twitter, Is Equivalent To Supercharging A Nuke

Twitter was is already an existential threat to democracy and Musk’s acquisitions do set off alarm bells

A hostile takeover, poison pill, and weeks of speculation Twitter’s board will never sell the embattled social network to outspoken billionaire Elon Musk came to an end yesterday.

Musk’s offer to buy Twitter for $44 billion and take it private happened to the dismay of many that hold democracy sacred. Musk insisted Twitter was oppressing free speech and vowed to change how the company operated.

Musk may see the silencing of the insurrectionists former U.S President Donald Trump as a problem, but the people on the side of democracy see it differently.

“I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means,” Tweeted Musk on Monday.

With Musk’s acquisition comes the promised exit of high-profile personnel from the platform. But that does not appear to phase him considering he paid a 38% premium for a company that cannot generate revenue.

With Musk at the helm, there is little doubt the company will be transformative and maybe unlock the true potential only he can imagine. That being said, Twitter is already a dangerous platform that is a megaphone for misinformation and political inference. And after Musk puts his stamp on the company, it may become as deadly as a nuclear weapon.
