Mass Murder Stabbing Suspect Myles Sanderson Arrested

Sanderson was wanted in connection with the worst mass killing in Saskatchewan’s history

Murder suspect, Myles Sanderson was still on the run heading into day three of the province’s deadliest mass stabbing. As per the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (R.C.M.P), his whereabouts are still unknown. The police believed he was no longer the James Smith Cree Nation and had left the city of Regina.

At around 2:00 pm, the R.C.M.P received a tip that an individual reported to be armed with a knife was travelling in a 2008 White Chevrolet Avalanche, Saskatchewan license 953 LPL, stolen out of Wakaw around 2:10 pm today and last seen travelling in Wakaw on Cemetery Road. Their direction of travel was unknown. They believed the sighting might be related to the Melfort dangerous person alert issued Sunday, Sept 4.

An alert was sent to the community of Wakaw and the surrounding area after confirmation of a possible sighting, asking people to seek immediate shelter/shelter. Use caution allowing others into your residence. Do not leave a secure location. DO NOT APPROACH suspicious persons. Do not pick up hitchhikers: report suspicious persons, emergencies or info to 9-1-1. Do not disclose police locations.

Around 3:30 pm CST today, Saskatchewan R.C.M.P confirmed they have arrested Myles Sanderon near Rosthern, Saskatchewan.

RCMP say Myles Sanderson was taken into police custody near Rosthern, Sask., at about 3:30 p.m. CST Wednesday. He is currently charged with three counts of murder, break and enter and attempted murder. The charges from the mass stabbing are sure to come pending the police investigation.

Sanderson’s capture has now put a community on heightened alert and can now begin the healing process. As part of the process, the father of the Sanderson boys made an emotional, heartfelt apology to the victims’ families and the communities.
