January 6th committee voted 9-0 to find Meadows in contempt of Congress
Meadows, the former Republican Congressman for North Carolina and most recently Trump’s Cheif of Staff from 2020 to 2021, has been recommended for criminal charges for contempt of Congress. In hopes of cashing in on the latest Whitehouse tell-all book circuit, “The Cheifs Chief” by all accounts was almost as disastrous as Chris Christie’s.
Meadows made bombshell revelations about Trump testing positive for COVID and still attended the Presidential debate against Joe Biden. Meadows’ revealed Trump was also COVID positive when he hosted the Whitehouse super spreader event, which resulted in several aids becoming infected. Meadows’ ultimately had to appear on Fox News to retract his comments after Trump’s public tongue lashing.
Meadows was scheduled to testify in front of the January 6h committee but was a no show citing executive privilege. Meadows was recommended by the committed to be charged by the Justice Department in a 9-0 vote.
Although the justice department has not indicated if they plan to charge Meadows just as they did Steve Bannon, early signs indicate he is facing a fight for his freedom as he lawyers up.
It’s speculated Meadows skipped the January 6 hearing after his treasure trove of incriminating text messages that became public. Those text messages were voluntarily turned over to the committee by Meadows himself.
“He’s got to condemn this shit ASAP,” Donald Trump Jr. texted. “The Capitol Police tweet is not enough.”
Mark Meadows responded: “I’m pushing it hard. I agree.”
“We need an Oval address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand.”
Several hours passed while Trump stood idle and did nothing to stop the January 6th terrorist attack on the US Capitol. Meadows received several text messages from members of Congress asking for the deployment of the National Guard. Meadows’ indicated the national guard will be there to protect the Trump rioters.
As Meadows begins the fight for his political freedom, he cannot unring the bell of six thousand pages of evidence he has already turned over to the January 6th committee. Meadows bad week is about to turn into a bad month followed by a year of legal entanglements.
