Lesotho Chapter of Writers Space Africa Receives A $10,000 Grant From Global Fund For Children

Writers Space Africa (Lesotho Chapter) has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Global Fund for Children (GFC) to run a National High School Debate in the Kingdom of Lesotho. This project will run for two years to promote freedom of expression, enhance public speaking skills, and create an awareness of the socio-political issues affecting the Kingdom of Lesotho.

According to Mojabeng Sonopo Mphalane, who serves as the Public Relations Manager for Writers Space Africa (Lesotho Chapter), the grant will be used to implement the National High School Debate and further the work of the organization. This provides platforms for cross-cultural interaction, learning, mentoring, and implementing creative projects and programs to solve local problems. By the end of the project lifecycle, this grant would have strengthened the organization’s capacity to foster change for children and youth.

Writers Space Africa (Lesotho Chapter) is grateful to GFC for their support. The organization is also thankful to the African Writers Development Trust (AWDT), which would serve as a fiscal partner. The Writers Space Foundation, an umbrella body that oversees the activities of Writers Space Africa (Lesotho Chapter), will provide technical and advisory assistance.
