Joe Biden Elected 46th President of the United States of America

Joe Biden has 284 Electoral votes and counting, which is enough to be name the next Commander in Chief.

America has spoken, Joe Biden has been elected the 46th president of the United States of America with over 50.3% of votes casted. President Elect Biden home state of Pennsylvania put gave the President the final push needed to bring dignity back to the Oval office.

This election was supposed to be a rebuke of Donald Trump and his administration’s inability to handle the Coronavirus and his desire for stoking racial tension, but it wasn’t from the votes casted.

Over 70 million people or 48.1% voted in favour to re-elect Donald Trump. Considering the country’s history of racism, Black Lives Matter movement and injustices towards minorities, clearly not all of America hopes for a better union.

With division, also comes hope and reconciliation. Over 74 million Americans voted because they believe America has a role to play in the healing process. These are Americans from all races, color, beliefs and economic make up who stood and marched in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

These are the millions of Americans who believe in equality for LGBTQ2 people, support a woman’s right to choose and support free and fair elections. In this election, over 74 million people chose to be on the right side of history. The side that saw record turnouts and helped to shatter the glass ceiling by election a woman of color to serve as vice president.

The middle of America’s is still overwhelmingly not ready for change and opted remain loyal to President Donald Trump. This is also the part of the country that has been hit hardest by the coronavirus and Trump’s ongoing trade wars with China, but yet they still chose to stand by their president.

The state of Florida, which is also the state with the third largest coronavirus outbreak and largest deaths among seniors, overwhelmingly voted to support Donald Trump.

The night before all the votes had been casted, President Donald Trump declared victory on national television while several states have yet to count their ballots or were still in the process of counting.

Trump leading up to the election signalled that he would declare victory on the day of the election, regardless if all the votes were counted. 

True to word, that’s exactly what he did. The president has filed lawsuits nationwide asking for all votes to be halted with exception to the states that he is winning or have won. The president deployed his surrogates on national tv to declare he has won the presidency because the election process has been rigged.

America’s democracy was hijacked the day Donald Trump was elected president. America’s institutions are no longer sacred, the rule of law no longer applies and over 70 million people are okay with it.

Vice President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will have their work cut out for them. They will head to a White House that will see a Republican controlled Senate and a minority Democratic lead Congress.
