Japan’s record setting earthquake comes within months of the Fukushima meltdown from 2011
The 2011 earthquake in Japan was the most powerful earthquake ever registered with a magnitude 9.0–9.1 (Mw) Fast forward a decade later and the far east country is hit with another devastating earthquake with the same magnitude as that of 2011.
The earthquake triggered powerful tsunami waves that may have reached heights of up to 40.5 meters (133 ft) in Miyako in Tōhoku’s Iwate Prefecture, and which, in the Sendai area, traveled at 700 km/h (435 mph) and up to 10 km (6 mi) inland. Wiki
There is no concern over a tsunami resulting from the earthquake that occurred yesterday. Also, no abnormalities have been reported by any of the nuclear facilities. Everything has been reported as normal. While the Japanese government continue working to confirm losses of life and injuries, as of right now there have been no major cases reported.

“As 2021 will mark the 10th anniversary of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay will aim to showcase the recovery of the areas worst affected by the disaster,” the Olympic committee said on its website.
