Iran President Rouhani Confirms His Military Accidentally Shot Down Ukrainian Flight 752

In what is being called a human error by the Iranian president, they have taken responsibility for the downing of Ukrainian flight 752.

In a statement, Iran’s foreign minister, Mohamad Javad Zarif, said Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 had taken a sharp, unexpected turn that brought it near a sensitive military base.

Armed Forces’ internal investigation has concluded that regrettably missiles fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane & death of 176 innocent people. Investigations continue to identify & prosecute this great tragedy & unforgivable mistake.

The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences. Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani

The Iranian military took decisive action and downed the flight they perceived to be American military planes. This shocking admission by the Iranian military that they do not have the capabilities to differentiate from a civilian to military jet is quite telling.

An American military fighter jet would never fly at low altitudes directly into dozens of hostile missiles. They are the most highly trained war machine with trillions of dollars invested into equipment that can neutralize their enemies remotely or miles away.

We can only hope with this week of violence and loss of innocent lives has ended. It is time for the Americans and the Iranians to tone down the rhetoric and look at ways to help the families who have lost their loved ones to a senseless error that was avoidable.
