Middle East ushers in a new era of peace between Israel and the Arab world.
What started with a virtual conference between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) became a historic day for peace in between Israel and the UAE We announced the establishment of a full and formal peace between Israel and the UAE. It includes the mutual opening of embassies, direct flights and many, many other bilateral agreements.
“This is the greatest advancement toward peace between Israel and the Arab world in the last 26 years and it marks the third formal peace between Israel and an Arab nation.
In 1979, Prime Minister Menachem made peace with Egypt. In 1994, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed a peace treaty with Jordan. And today, I am honored to announce a formal peace agreement with the United Arab Emirates. I believe that there is a good chance that we will soon see more Arab countries join this expanding circle of peace.” Said Netanyahu
“Canada welcomes the announcement made today by Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States that Israel and the UAE will begin normalizing relations. We see this as a historic and positive step toward peace and security in the region.” said François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs
In recent years, Israel has made advancements in ties with such countries as Sudan, Oman, Bahrain and other nations in the Gulf and now the UAE. Even with the newly announced peace deal, Israel still has a tumultuous relationship with many Arab countries, predominantly the Palestinian in Gaza and the West Bank.
The peace agreement is a significant win for Netanyahu and Us President Donald Trump. The heads of states share a kindred spirit and both needed the peace agreement as it will serve as a welcomed distraction from their scandal plagued administration.
