Fully Vaccinated Manitobans To Be Issued Cards By The Government

Fully immunized Manitobans will benefit from having fewer restrictions to travel and social gather

As more Canadians become vaccinated, it was widely expected that the provinces and territories would put in place a system or measures to indicate when their citizens have been fully vaccinated. Having the ability to monitor or track fully vaccinated members of the society makes it easier to have social gatherings and large events.

Manitoba has become one of the first provinces to put in place immunization cards for those who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. “Fully immunized Manitobans will now be able to travel without having to self-isolate for two weeks upon return with a new, secure immunization card that will be available to people two weeks after they have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine,” said Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister

The Premier further added “Many Manitobans have rolled up their sleeves over these past few months and done their part in protecting our province, and I want to commend them for doing so. Manitobans have told us that getting back to the things they love and miss is one of the biggest incentives to getting vaccinated. As a government, we are doing everything we can to bolster vaccine availability and accessibility, and equipping Manitobans with the information and support they need to make the right decision to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community.”

Manitobans can begin to apply for the their vaccination card 14 days after getting their second vaccine dose and must have a Manitoba Health Card. The Premier indicated Manitobans have the option of obtaining a digital or physical card and promised that process will be fast and simple.

As the need to open up becomes more apparent, freedom of movement and social gathering is essential to the economy and the mental health of everyone. Vaccination cards are a simple but subtle reminder that a return to normalcy is eminent.
