Lego wants everyone to have toys that are inclusive and celebrates their awesomeness
Lego the multi-billion dollar global enterprise today launched its diverse Lego set celebrating diversity and members of the LGBT2Q community. Just coming on the heels of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, Lego shows the importance of using its brand power to promote inclusion and acceptance.
“The starting point for this was my feeling that we, as a society, could be doing more to show support for each other and appreciate our differences. Being LGBTQIA+ myself, I knew I needed to step up to the plate and make a real statement about love and inclusivity, and generally spread some LEGO® love to everybody who needs it. Children are our role models and they welcome everyone, no matter their background. Something we should all be aspiring to.” Said Matthew Aston, Vice President of Designs, The Lego Group
Lego becomes another major brand joining Mattel and Hasbro in making lines of gender-neutral dolls and toys. Big brands are now starting to take stands on important issues like race, LGBT2Q and Black Lives matter as they now understand the impact of social justice on their bottom line.
