European Soccer clubs Begin 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League Season

A media communication from Europe’s soccer governing body reveals: “The first match of the 2022/2023 Champions League will kick off this week.” Popularly called the UEFA Champions League, it brings together the best and leading squads in club football on the European continent. World-famous teams from Europe will battle for a place in the final contest billed for the over 75,000 seating capacity Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, on 10 June 2023. Action-starved soccer fans can’t wait for the blast of the starting whistle. The new season of the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated European club football series begins on 6 September 2022, with 32 teams divided into eight groups. 

Tuesday, Match-day 1, will see eight games with 16 teams battling for supremacy. Real Madrid will begin the race for another title away to Celtic of Scotland, while Sevilla is the other Spanish team of the day, and they will be playing host to highflying Manchester City of England. A different star attraction will be the game between PSG of France and Juventus of Italy. With seven elite club trophies, AC Milan, another Italian team with an intimidating pedigree in this competition, will be away to Salzburg of Austria. Dortmund of Germany will be at home to FC Copenhagen just as another German side, RB Leipzig, will entertain Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine. The other soccer feasts of the day will be between Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia and Chelsea of England and Benfica of Portugal versus Maccabi Haifa of Israel.

The stars in this year’s Champions League parade are familiar names, but one icon of the beautiful game will be missing when the prominent actors come out to play, watched by a global audience. Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal will be absent from action as Manchester United; his current English Premiership club is consigned to the Europa League. But that competition also has its glory, and its honor is worth playing for and defending.

For defending champions Real Madrid, this will be a season to repeat longstanding winning prescriptions, having won the trophy on 14 occasions, while other contenders will be looking to upset the applecart. And the team from the Spanish capital can look forward to quality opposition, with most teams having fortified their defenses and sharpened their arsenals after injuries and departures from last season. Fans worldwide can gear up for the best of European soccer action because the UEFA Champions League may be devoid of its trademark fascination without resident crowd support and enthusiastic participation from fans worldwide.
