Every five years, the political leadership of The Communist Party of China (CPC) convenes a National Congress to outline the country’s future development strategy. The 19th CPC National Congress concluded its seventh plenary session in Beijing on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, and the 20th party congress will convene on Oct 16th in Beijing.
It is a congress of great significance to be convened at a crucial moment, as the whole Party and the entire nation embark on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects, and advance toward the Second Centenary Goal.
The 20th CPC National Congress will resolve further to promote the country’s development. The country faces new tasks and challenges in the ever-changing global landscape. From COVID-19 mitigation to the war in Ukraine, China is advancing a new era of political cohesion with all parties to achieve the dreams of its citizens.
China underlined the importance of achieving the dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and resolved to build a stronger nation through a more robust economy. These goals will be accomplished through investment in manufacturing and production, improved living standards. Simultaneously, it pledged to promote core socialist values and increase state management accountability. From ensuring developing countries to have a steady stream of vaccinations to fighting COVID and other preventable diseases to building well-needed infrastructures such as bridges and airports, China has set the road map for the country’s economic growth.
To enhance national development, promote reform and development, and ensure long-term stability, China the congress resolved to improve rural health care, agriculture, transportation, education and all other aspects of life in rural areas. It also pledged to increase wages as it increased urban incomes.
The 20th CPC National Congress will set high expectations for China’s future. As a global superpower with increasing international prominence, China faces challenges in ensuring smooth economic growth and social stability. Achieving its goals will require implementing new strategies to underpin national development with an emphasis on social responsibility and integrity.
