Celebrating Black History Month With Kali Mentallo, The Peoples Champion

Every February, Canadians are invited to participate in Black History Month festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians, past and present.

We kick off Black History Month with a salute to Manitoba’s high flying international superstar wrestler Kali Mentallo. Whether jumping off the top ropes of the squared circle in Japan or from a fifty-foot ladder in Mexico, Kali Mentallo has represented his country and his community with pride and respect.

Mentallo started his career as a professional wrestler in 1997 and has performed hundreds of matches throughout North America and various parts of the world. As a true technician and master of his craft, Mentallo is one of few wrestlers trained in various styles of wrestling such as Mexican Lucha Libre, Japanese Puroresu, and those styles that are often seen in the CWF and WWE.

When Mentallo is not backflipping off the top ropes or pounding his opponents into submission, you will see him taking time to interact with his supporters signing autographs and posing for pictures.

Kali Mentallo internationally featured homegrown Winnipeg Man, athlete, performer and the people’s champion! We salute you!
