Canadians Commemorate Veterans On Remembrance Day

Ceremonies were held on Thursday to honour Veterans

On November 11, Canadians marked the day to remember and honour Veterans who sacrificed their lives, and fought for the freedom of their nation.

Ever since 1931, when the House of Commons has passed a bill named “Remembrance Day”, which was introduced by a Member of Parliament Alan Neill. The Bill was to observe ceremonies on 11 November to commemorate the end of World War I in 1918, and the fallen soldiers who have fought during the war.

“On Remembrance Day, we pause to honour those who gave their lives for our country. Today we thank every Veteran and service member who has proudly served in uniform and renew our promise to never forget their sacrifices.”- Stated by Veterans Affairs on Thursday.

People were commemorating the day across the country, such as the ceremony held in Ottawa, where everyone gathered to celebrate the soldiers and their families, and thank them for their sacrifice.

Each year people of Canada will continue to remember, place wreaths and pause in silence for the Veterans, for protecting the nation’s freedom, and making sure the future of their country was brighter than its’ past.
