Enemy of the people and Fake news is how the embattled US President often refers to journalist when he is put in the unfavourable position of having to tell the truth. The irony of Trumps mocking of the media is that they are the same ones who helped him become president.

Back in 2016 when Trump was running for president, the mainstream media couldn’t get enough sound bites of the fowled mouth racist candidate to splash across their networks. After nearly four years of Trump, the mainstream media will ultimately be the source the fuels his demise.

In media, rating are everything. They are what sells ads and keep the lights on. However, with the constant assault on the media by Trump and his administration, they appear to be putting the well being of the country first in this election cycle.

Trumps branding journalists as enemy of the people and in Velshi’s case, mocking him for being shot by police, puts the lives of all reporters at risk. For years TV and journalist were welcomed spectators at rallies, peaceful protest and when embedded in war zones. It was an unwritten rule they were off limits from being assaulted. With the election of Trump, they have now become the hunted by the President and his many sycophants.

Never had a president been so content with causing harm to Americans for the sake of increasing his poll numbers. Journalist and reporters are the fundamental constant that bridges the gap between truth and government, with a few notable exceptions that traffic in Trump Propaganda.
