Express Entry draws have now resumed for all programs in Canada after about 18 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The Express Draw includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). This draw allows individuals from outside Canada to be invited to apply for their Permanent Residency.
On July 6, 2022, Canada held its first all-program draw since December 2020 and with travel restrictions gradually lifting around the world, the country will begin to increase Express Entries. Canada has outlined a goal to welcome over 110,000 Express Entry immigrants annually by 2024. In addition to this, for the first time since September 2021, Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates were included in the Express Entry draw.

I want to thank the candidates worldwide for their patience as we worked to reduce the backlog before resuming Express Entry draws. I look forward to welcoming skilled workers who will be essential in addressing Canada’s labour shortages”, shared Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser with CIC News.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 1,500 Express Entry candidates to apply for their permanent residency, with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score of 557.
Since its introduction in 1967, the Federal Skills Worker Program (FSWP) has been the primary way Canada welcomed its skilled workers into the country. In addition, for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates to be included in this draw is a significant step forward for Canada’s substantial population of foreign workers and international students as it allows them to obtain their Permanent Resident in Canada after years of hard work and dedication. Research conducted by the Canadian government depicts that FWSP immigrants continue to have successful and fulfilling careers in the country and contribute immensely to Canada’s labour market.
Federal Skills Worker Program (FSWP) Eligibility: FWSP is for individuals who have not worked or studied in Canada before, but candidates must have at least one year of work experience, one educational credential, provide proof of funds, a minimum of 7 for their Canadian Language Benchmark (English/French language test) and receive at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP scoring grid.
The Government of Canada states that Express Entry programs will have their applications processed within six months after their final submission.
