Bombers Overcome 6 Turnovers For Date In The 108th Grey Cup Finals

Bombers have their eyes set on back to back Grey Cup championships

There has not been a back to back Grey Cup champion since the 2009 and 2010 Montreal Alouettes that defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders in both title games. In a week from now, that’s all about to change, as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers look to cement their names in the history books.

From the start of the season, the City of Winnipeg could sense the Bombers were on the verge of greatness and had a steadfast focus on defending the Cup. The Bombers came into the Western Conference Championship with the best record in football of 10 and 3, with zero losses at Investor’s Group Field. And to the delight of a sold-out home crowd, the Bombers took care of business.

It is only fitting the Blue Bombers defeated their arch-rivals the Saskatchewan Roughriders to set a date with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on their home turf. The last time the Bombers faced off against the Tiger-Cats was in week one where they squeaked out a home victory 19-6. A lot has changed since then, both teams are tuned in, and for the most part, fairly healthy.

The Tiger-Cats defeated the Toronto Argos 27-19 to earn a spot in the 108th Grey Cup in Hamilton at Tim Horton’s Filed. Although they have the advantage of playing in front of a home crowd, the Bombers are the road favourite to repeat as champions. They own the second-best offence in CFL, and the best defence, filled with game-changers.

The upcoming Grey Cup will be memorable for Canadians, as it will mark the first time a championship game has been played since the start of the pandemic. The game will be a time for celebration, not just for Hamilton and Winnipeg, but the country. It will be a welcomed distraction from COVID-19 and prove once again why the CFL is the best football game in the world.
