Alberta Premier Ask For Urgent Help From Red Cross and Federal Government
On Wednesday December 2, 2020, the Province of Alberta reported a staggering 1,685 new cases of COVID-19. The province has continually reported triple digit cases of the virus for the last few weeks, a clear sign of and outbreak.
Alberta’s Premier Jason Kenney has been under scrutiny for mishandling the pandemic. Kenney is against strict lockdowns similar to those imposed by other provinces and has also been accused of dismissing the advice of the scientists and his Chief Health Officer.
The provinces hospitals have now hit their breaking point for patient capacity. Premier Kenney has asked the federal government and Red Cross to step in with additional resources. The federal government has been asked to provide military assistances with personnel and the resources required to set up field hospitals to house the overflow of patients throughout the province.
Unless Alberta’s premier takes a more serious stance on the pandemic, that province will remain the epicenter for the outbreak in the the Country.
