Canada Cracks Down on Illegal Migrants Working in Canada Without a Permit

In recent months, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has intensified efforts to identify and apprehend individuals working illegally in the country. This crackdown includes conducting raids and spot checks across various provinces, notably Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

Notable incidents include the interception of a van carrying construction workers in Alberta, where individuals were found working without proper authorization. Additionally, there has been an alarming trend of international visitors obtaining truck driving licenses and engaging in unauthorized employment while on visitor visas.

Engaging in unauthorized work in Canada carries significant legal risks, including the possibility of removal orders, exclusion orders, and even deportation, which can lead to permanent bans from re-entering the country. The CBSA’s increased enforcement aims to ensure compliance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).

Individuals currently working without authorization are advised to consult with immigration professionals to explore options for regularizing their status and to avoid severe legal consequences.
