Mayoral Candidate Woodstock Promises A New Vision For Affordable Housing

Woodstock brought forward the Homes for Heroes Foundation’s housing initiative in 2018 and now looks to create more homes if elected the city’s next Mayor.

Today, Mayoral candidate Don Woodstock announced his second initiative in four years to combat Winnipeg’s housing crisis. It will piggyback on his earlier initiatives to shed light on the situation. 

 “I support home ownership as a model to help end homelessness.” In 2018, Tommy Prince Jr and I presented to City Council the Homes for Heroes Foundation’s (H4H) housing model. Kevin Klein, Scott Gillingham, and Vivian Santos showed no interest.” Said, Woodstock

As Mayor, Woodstock plans to implement the second stage of his low incoming housing vision, ensuring homeownership for those in serious need. Woodstock’s low-income housing would see people paying rent of $1,200 reduced to as little as $800- $900 monthly.

Woodstock has never made it shy about his passion for the environment. His plan for affordable housing emphasizes using Hydro and solar panels to get to a NetZero building. Winnipeg voters head to the polls on October 26, 2022, to elect their next Mayor, which has a crowded field of 15 candidates.
