Alberta Energy Minister Heads South To Promote Canadian Energy

Energy Minister Sonya Savage will travel to the United States to promote Alberta’s energy sector to international decision-makers, investors and state legislators from Dec. 5-12.
Today, Alberta’s Minister of Energy Sonya Savage will attend the World Petroleum Congress (WPC), a premier global oil and gas conference taking place in Houston, Texas. The minister will also attend the Energy Council Conference in New Orleans, La. The Energy Council is an organization of elected legislators from 14 energy-producing states in the U.S. and two Canadian provinces, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Participation at both the WPC and Energy Council Conference provides opportunities to promote Alberta as a supplier of responsible, secure, reliable and affordable energy. Minister Savage will meet with U.S. and other government officials, as well as energy industry executives. The minister will encourage conference delegates to attend the 24th World Petroleum Congress, scheduled to take place in Calgary in 2023.
The minister will be accompanied by her chief of staff and the deputy minister of Alberta Energy. MLA for Grande Prairie Tracy Allard will attend the Energy Council Conference. MLA Allard sits on the board of directors for the council’s Center for Legislative Energy and Environmental Research.
