HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, inaugurated today, Tuesday, the new head office of Amazon, the global company specialized in e-commerce, in the Abdali project in Amman.
During the opening, His Highness the Crown Prince stressed that Jordan is working to enhance private sector investments, indicating the importance of the role of global technology companies in supporting economic growth and providing job opportunities.
His Highness, in the presence of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh, listened to a briefing by Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon in the Middle East and North Africa, about the company’s goals and future plans in the development process.
Moushawar pointed to the great technical development in the Kingdom, and what constitutes an important support for the work of the Amazon Regional Center, stressing that human cadres in Jordan are among the best in the region, and are necessary for the company’s business.
He said that the new building will contribute to providing new jobs for Jordanians, as the company currently employs about 1,220 Jordanians, and plans next year to double the number of its employees in the Jordan branch, to carry out several tasks, including data analysis and processing, digital content industry, exploitation of artificial intelligence, and technology development. , customer service, and operational support at the district level.
According to the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh, Amazon’s investments are in line with the national digital economy strategy, which aims to raise the level of human competencies and provide job opportunities, to highlight Jordan as a leading regional and global agency in development and technical services.
Upon his arrival at the site of the Abdali Project, His Highness was received by Amer Al-Fayez, Chairman of the Abdali Investment and Development Company.
