Prince Phillip Laid To Rest In Ceremonial Royal Funeral

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Funeral was a “Ceremonial Royal Funeral”, the same as that of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. It was not a “State Funeral” – something that is generally reserved for Monarchs.

The Dean of Windsor conducted the Funeral Service and the Archbishop of Canterbury pronounced the Blessing. Due to the public health guidelines, some elements of the Funeral plan had been modified, although the day was still be very much in line with His Royal Highness’s wishes.” Statement from Buckingham Palace

The passing of Prince Phillip was saddening but not unexpected. At the age of 96, he retired from his official duties as a Royal and has been battling issues with his health.

The Prince was the oldest serving Royal male at 99 years of age and died just two months short of his centurion birthday. In a time were the Royals personal lives have been aired publicly, the passing of Prince Phillip changed the tone in British tabloids as the Royal Family is in mourning.
