Expect thoughts and Prayers and that’s about it from politicians
On 3-16-2021, at around 5:47 PM, Atlanta Police Officers responded to a business robbery in progress call at 1916 Piedmont Road in Northeast Atlanta. Upon arrival, officers located 3 females deceased inside the location from apparent gunshot wounds. While still on scene, officers were advised of a shots fired call across the street, at 1907 Piedmont Road. Officers immediately responded and checked the location, finding 1 female who appeared to have been shot and was deceased inside the business.
Many have asked whether these shootings are related to Cherokee County’s shootings. Video footage from our Video Integration Center places the Cherokee County suspect’s vehicle in the area, around the time of our Piedmont Road shootings. That, along with video evidence viewed by investigators, suggests it is extremely likely our suspect is the same as Cherokee County’s, who is in custody. Because of this, an investigator from APD is in Cherokee County and we are working closely with them to confirm with certainty our cases are related.
Having these two shootings occur at massage parlors and with knowledge of Cherokee County’s shootings, Zone 2 commanders quickly dispatched officers to check nearby similar businesses and patrols have been increased in those areas. The increase patrol presence, resulted in the apprehension of a 21 year suspect Robert Aaron Long who will be held in custody.
“We were able to interview him with the Atlanta police department and the FBI. He made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past.”
President Biden plans to address the nation on the first mass shooting of his presidency. We can expect more thoughts and prayers and the same empty platitudes from politicians regarding gun laws.
