14th Case Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Viet Nam

The latest patient, a 55-year-old woman, is the 9th nCoV patient confirmed so far in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

She is the neighbour of one of eight workers returning from China’s Wuhan and six of them have been confirmed infected with the nCoV.

The woman went to the worker’s house on the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival on January 28 and developed symptoms like fever, headache, and runny nose on February 4.

She is one of those who have been closely monitored by the local health authorities due to close contact with the worker.

The woman is now quarantined at Quang Ha Area General Hospital in Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province and in stable health.

Of the total nCoV patients in Viet Nam, three have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospital, including a Chinese tourist Li Zichao.

The Ministry of Health reported Sunday afternoon that there have been 82 suspected cases in Viet Nam while 745 others have been tested negative for the virus.

The Government declared 2019-nCoV an epidemic on February and has deployed a series of strict measures, including the introduction of 14-day quarantine for incoming travelers from nCoV affected regions in a bid to contain the spread of the virus to Viet Nam.

Local authorities of all 63 provinces and cities have decided to delay the reopening of schools at all levels for another week.

As of 5:00 pm on Sunday, the Wuhan nCoV death toll reached 813, surpassing SARS fatalities in 2003 while the number of confirmed infections rose to 37,588 globally./.
