Canada is projecting 1.2 million people to leave the country in 2025. They have also announced a reduction in immigration targets. For 2025, the target is 395,000 new permanent residents, decreasing to 380,000 in 2026, and 365,000 in 2027.
This decision aims to address pressing issues like housing shortages and labor market pressures. The government plans to focus on attracting newcomers to different regions, including small towns and rural communities.
It’s worth noting that immigration plays a crucial role in Canada’s economic growth, accounting for almost 100% of the country’s labor force growth.
